The Federal Ministry of Education has lauded the number of female pupils participation in this year’s Federal Unity Schools Entrance Examination conducted annually by the National Examination Council (NECO). With 36, 855 female out of the 69,828 applicants this year seeking admission into the Unity schools, a record that surpassed the 2021 registration which had more males.

Speaking on behalf of the minister of education, Mr. Adamu Adamu, the Permanent Secretary Mr. David Adejo Andrew pointed that due to some challenges, the number to be admitted may not be as much as expected. This, he said was because some of the unity schools are temporarily closed, while some have some structural maintenance to take care of.

“This year we have more female applicant than last year. Out of the 69, 828 applicants, 36,855 are female which is good for the clamour for gender equality is.” Adejo said while addressing media men at Federal Government College Kwali during the monitoring exercise earlier today.

“Some of our schools are presently visited by some problems, we had to shut down some schools because of one or two issues, some schools have had their roof blown off by storm. So there are many considerations that is going to determine the number” He added,

He however assured that the ministry will do all her best to take as much as possible.
