ASUU: Register CONUA, NAMDA, FG tells NLC
The Federal Government, Tuesday, appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress to rescind its opposition to the registration of two new academic unions in the Nigerian public university system.
The PUNCH reports that the new unions- the Congress for Nigerian University Academics and the Nigeria Association of Medical and Dental Academics -received letters of recognition recently during a ceremony at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja.

Ibadan Poly council presents score sheet on achievement
The Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan (TPI), Professor AdekunleAdebiyi, says the priorities of the current management and governing council of the institution are training and retraining of both its academic and non-academic staff.
Professor Adebiyi who described learning as generic and a continuous exercise stated that “as an institution, we need to be updating our knowledge in order to be in line with the best and current practices as far as the operation of this institution is concerned.”

Banditry: Niger Gov, Sani Bello orders swift security action in Gulu, adjoining communities
Niger State Governor and Chairman North Central States Governors Forum (NCSGF), Abubakar Sani Bello, has charged the Joint Security Taskforce in the state to urgently put an end to the incessant armed banditry, kidnappings and wanton attacks on several communities at Gulu in the Lapai Local Government Area.
Apparently reacting to attack by gunmen on General Hospital Gulu early morning of today, Bello, in a statement, urged the taskforce to launch a sporadically coordinated onslaught in order to overcome the bandits and sanitize the area as soon as possible.
