JAMB UNVEILS DIGITISED PLATFORM FOR TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS, REGULATORY AGENCIES

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation board (JAMB) unveiled an improved digital platform for instantaneous communication among the nation’s tertiary institutions and their regulatory agencies.

The Board formally unveiled the automated platform on Monday, 14th November, 2022, at a virtual meeting hosted from its National Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja.

The Registrar, Prof.Is-haq Oloyede, in his remarks at the launch said the Board would migrate completely to its digitized communication channels from 1st January, 2023, stating that this would ensure the full transition from a paper communication system to a paperless regime

 which would result in the automation of accreditation and general administration matters among JAMB, Regulatory Agencies and Institutions” Having been able to automate the applications of over two million students, we have now put our heads together to streamline what we are doing on admission and accreditation matters,” he

said.

According to the Registrar, from the first day of January, 2023, the Board would not receive any paper communication from any regulatory agency or institution. He stated that with over 890 institutions in the country, JAMB and all the regulatory agencies should adopt a state-of-the-art communication strategy

to take critical real-time decisions on admission-related issues for candidates, a c c r e d i t a t i o n a n d available

programmes (courses), among other issues.

The Registrar, while listing the enormous advantages of the new regime, said, “The platform would reduce delays in the conduct of the Board’s critical operations, increase efficiency, track communications and archive records of such communications. To achieve this, the Board’s Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS) has been upgraded to also serve as a communication channel between the Board on one hand and each of the Regulatory Agencies ( NUC,NCCE and NBTE) and every tertiary Institution in Nigeria on the other hand.” The formal launch of the communication channel had in attendance the Heads of Regulatory Agencies namely: the Executive Secretaries of the National Universities Commission NUC, Prof Abubakar Adamu Rasheed; National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof Idris Muhammad Bugaje; National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Prof. Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle and some selected media top echelons.

Attending the meeting via zoom were the Heads of Institutions comprising Vice- Chancellors, Provosts and Rectors, the Registrars of the tertiary institutions and the admission officers. The meeting was held in two batches on the same day for the institutions in the Northern and S o u t h e r n state s o f t h e c o u n t r y respectively.

The participants were taken through practical demonstrations on the workings of the platforms by the duo of the Board’s Director of Admissions, Mr. Muhammed Babaji Ahmed, and the IT Consultant, Mr.Damilola Bamiro.

2023 UTME: JAMB SENSITISES SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN MAKURDI

Ahead of the upcoming 2023 UTME Registration exercise, the Benue State Office of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has organised an advocacy programme for senior secondary schools in Makurdi, Benue State. The advocacy programme was organized to sensitise prospective 2023 UTME candidates on the requirements for the2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)/Direct Entry (DE) registration.

The participants were drawn from St. Dominic High School; Vaatia College; Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School; Government College, Makurdi;  International Secondary School; Government Model School; St. Joseph Secondary School, Nyiman; Padoppas Harmony Secondary School and Jewel Model School, Makurdi.

Anchoring the programme, the Benue State Coordinator, Dr. Titus Lemut, emphasized the importance of the

National Identification Number (NIN) in UTME registration. He, therefore, urged prospective candidates to obtain their NIN with the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC) beforehand, stressing that NIN is germane to registering their candidature with the Board.

Speaking further, Dr. Lemut explained the procedure for generating profile codes, which according to him is another important step that must not be handled with levity. To generate a profile code, he stated that it is paramount but not compulsory for each candidate to obtain their personal functional GSM SIM card,

rather than relying on that of their parents or siblings.

The State Coordinator also emphasise the need for the candidates to read the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS) for their choice of institutions and programmes (courses) while stressing the importance of having the right subject combination for each course. According to him, a wrong subject combination

might deny them admission offers. PRODUCTIVITY, FOCUS, PROFESSIONALISM, KEYS TO ACHIEVING ORGANISATIONAL GOALS – PROF. OLOYEDE

The registrar o f t h e J o i n t Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has stated that consolidating on the Board’s legacy of productivity, professionalism and being focused have been keys to achieving the Board’s organisational goals. The Registrar made the statement when he paid a working visit to the soon-to-be commissioned JAMB International Talent Resort Centre, Gbongan, Osun State.

 While touring the facility, Prof. Oloyede described the facility as a a pivotal project, stressing that the magnitude of the investment committed to the Centre points to the Board’s understanding of the imperative of reaching out to every nook and crannies of the country as a veritable means of realising federal government’s vision for education which “This vision could only be achieved through eschewing those traits that do not reflect the values that JAMB represents, while maintaining our drive for maximum productivity through result-oriented infrastructural expansion and commendable implementation of our core mandates.

” “Peculiarities of candidates from rural and urban settlements must be factored in while planning for every stage of the Board’s operational processes. As such, this strategically-located centre would stem the flow of the youths to urban centres simply to access the Board’s services,” he said. Speaking further, the Registrar restated the Board’s commitment to nurturing a culture of excellence in large-scale assessment and fostering transparent the nation’s developmental aspirations.

In his admonition to the members of staff, the Registrar charged them to be unwavering in their dedication to duty

and loyalty to the Board. He also enjoined them to contribute their quotas to the development of their host community, particularly in the areas of excellent service delivery, charging them to positively impact people’s lives around them, citing several instances where professionalism, kindness and a sense of d u t y t o t h e i r c o m m u n i t y, h a d engendered humongous rewards to people many years after taking those actions. He, therefore, implored them to continue to put in their best so as to take the Board to greater heights. In his entourage were the Ag. Zonal Director, Ibadan Zonal Office, Mrs. Olajumoke Adeleke, and the Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Babatunde Jacob. Admission procedures, which according to him, would go a long way in facilitating is aimed at not leaving anyone behind.

JAMB INTERNATIONAL TALENT RESORT CENTRE TO BE COMMISSIONED SOON – JAMB REGISTRAR

The R e g i s t r a r o f t h e J o i n t Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has disclosed that the Board’s International Talent Resort Centre(IRC), G b o n ga n , O s u n State , would b e commissioned soon. The Registrar dropped this hint when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Centre on Wednesday, 16th November, 2022.

Impressed by the ongoing work and the state-of-the-art facilities at the site, the Registrar said the commissioning of the Centre would take place very soon. The foundation-laying ceremony of the Centre was performed on 14th July, 2021, The first phase of the four-phase Centre of excellence, when completed, would

house an office complex and a 500-seater mega CBT centre. The Centre would also feature a world-class research facility in a serene environment conceived to provide a veritable platform for the Board’s research and intellectual

engagements.

The Registrar, who was accompanied by the Board’s Ag. Zonal Director, Ibadan, Mrs. Olajumoke Adeleke, the Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Babatunde Jacob, and the Officer in charge of the Centre, Alhaji  Bur’hanudeen Sanusi Issa, stressed the importance of ensuring that the facility by the Executive Governor, State of Osun, and its equipment are well utilized.

Prof. Oloyede enjoined members of staff of the Centre to be security conscious at all times. He also advised them to integrate themselves into the local community while reiterating the commitment of his administration to

further improve on staff welfare. In his remarks, Mr. Babatunde Jacob, commended the Registrar for always

prioritising staff welfare and the fatherly manner with which he relates with the staff.

He assured the public and the Board that the staff would reciprocate by being diligent at their duty posts as well as being good ambassadors of the Board in serving the public.

JAMB DISTRIBUTES READING TEXTS TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN AKWA IBOM STATE

The joint A d m i s s i o n s a n d Matriculation Board (JAMB), in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has donated a total of nine thousand three hundred and eighty-five (9,385) copies of reading texts to public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State.

Handing the reading texts over to the Director, State Secondary Education State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Olima- Williams, stated that the Board had taken the initiative to encourage public secondary school students in the State to cultivate the habit of reading so as to broaden their knowledge as well as develop their communication skills.

In her response, Ms. Ekpo expressed gratitude to the Board, particularly the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, for his

kind gesture while pledging judiciousBoard, Ms. Nse Ekpo, the Akwa Ibom distribution of the texts to the intended

beneficiaries.

JIGAWA STATE OFFICE TRAINS STAFF ON SERVICE DELIVERY

Determined to improve performance and effective service delivery, the Jigawa State Coordinator, Mr. Bello

M. Hausawa, has organised a training programme for the members of staff of the State Office on performance

improvement through attitudinal change.

The in-house training was held on Wednesday, 16th November, 2022, at the State Office, Dutse. The State Coordinator in his address to the training, stated that the exercise would go

a long way towards improving the attitude of staff and their performance at their duty posts and positively project the image of the Board.

According to him, hard work, dedication and commitment to duty are the bedrocks of development in any organisation and urged staff to Iimbibe the right attitude to improve inter personal relationship, and foster teamwork.

The Coordinator listed negative attitudes t o i n c l u d e , b u t n o t l i m i t e d t o , insubordination, suspicion, pessimism, corruption, and other unwholesome practices. He charged the staff to stay away from vices that could negatively impact the good name of the Board.
