Just in: Bauchi education commissioner resigns

Commissioner of Education, Bauchi State, Dr. Aliyu Usman Tilde, has resigned his position in the State Executive Council.

The former commissioner announced this on his verified Facebook page on Monday.

He said he had earlier sent a letter of resignation to Governor Bala Mohammed, seeking his approval to allow him attend to a call of an associate who direly needs his services.

World Teachers’ Day: Atiku seeks improved investment in education

The presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has reiterated his call on government at all levels to give adequate attention to the management of the education sector in the country.

The former Vice President said this in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day, which is celebrated yearly on October 5.

Atiku, who spoke during the commissioning of the Security Health and Education, S.H.E Initiative office in Abuja yesterday, said it was regrettable that education was not getting the proper attention it deserved from all stakeholders.

Bauchi Education Commissioner, Tilde, Resigns

The Commissioner of Education in Bauchi State, Dr. Aliyu Usman Tilde, has resigned his position in the State Executive Council.

Nigeria: With Poverty, Education, Health in Focus, Presidential Hopefuls Mull Solutions at ARISE Town Hall

It was a battle of ideas, on Sunday, at the third in a series of town hall meetings, organised by the ARISE News Channel and its partners, where three of the leading presidential candidates – the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar,  Labour Party’s Peter Obi and the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s Rabiu Kwankwaso – took on four critical issues of poverty, education, health and human capital development as central to the growth and development of the country, preparatory to the 2023 general election.

Transmitted simultaneously from panelists, both in the Lagos and the Abuja studios, the programme jointly anchored by seasoned broadcasters, Charles Aniagolu and Adesuwa Omoruwa, was the second the candidates appeared on, having featured in the maiden edition of the Town Hall dialogue last month.

Makinde assents to bill upgrading Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to varsity

• Says bill will increase access to quality education

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday, assented to the bill seeking to upgrade Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, to a University of Education.

The governor, after signing the bill into law at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan, said that the bill would increase access to quality university education.
He said that tertiary institutions in the state had moved from receiving 25 per cent subvention to getting 100 per cent.
