Finally, JAMB Begins Sale of 2023 UTME, Direct Entry Forms Read

Forms for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are out for sale to prospective applicants The announcement was made by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Meanwhile, direct entry applicants from polytechnics and college of education can also now purchase their forms.

Legit.ng gathered that the JAMB exam form is for qualified applicants seeking admission into any tertiary institution of their choice for the 2023 academic session.

List of Federal Universities in Nigeria That Have Increased Tuition Fees

Following the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)’s failure to pressure the federal government to provide more funds, some prominent Nigerian public universities have increased their tuition fees.

Many federal universities across the country have announced over 200 per cent hike in registration and tuition fees for students, according to a report by The Punch

2022/2023 Admission: List of UNILAG’s Cut-Off Marks for All Courses Depending on Students’ States of Origin  

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has officially released the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Merit Admission Cut-Off Marks for the 2022/2023 Academic Session.

The university informed members of the public especially prospective students, as well as their parents and guardians, that the Cut-Off Marks are for the respective programmes it is offering.

Education will enlighten youth, says publisher

The publisher of an education magazine, Adebiyi Oke, has said “Edutimes Africa” will provide guidance for the youths and help them develop an interest in education.

A statement signed by the Editor-In-Chief of the magazine, Oladapo Akande, disclosed that the monthly magazine was jointly founded by the trio of Adebiyi Oke, Oladapo Akande and Kammonke Abam, who were deeply worried about the poor state of the education sector on the African continent.

While lamenting the general neglect of this vital sector by governments, he added it was disheartening that youths now considered education as a scam.

Foundation donates writing materials

A non-governmental organisation, JRO Foundation, has donated books and writing materials to over 500 secondary school pupils drawn from Telemu Community in Osun State.

Also, there was free health sensitisation for the aged, and widows, as well as scholarship awards for secondary school students from the community.

In their separate remarks, the founder of the Foundation, Dr Ronke Oluwoye and her husband Prof. Jacob Oluwoye stated that the NGO was committed to providing financial support to school children and youths in selected rural communities.

UBEC to strengthen early childhood education

The Federal Government has said the Universal Basic Education will strengthen early childhood education in all states.

In a statement made available to our correspondent to herald the flag off of the national sensitisation campaign of out-of-school-children across the country, the Minister of State for Education, Nana Opiah, who highlighted some of the factors that denied children access to early education said, “The Federal Government through the instrumentality of the Universal Basic Education is doing everything humanly possible to assist the states on the issue of early childhood education. Some of the factors that prevent our children’s access to early education include extreme poverty, ignorance, and access to education among others.

Election : Obi urges Nigerian students to vote wisely, rescue Nigeria from poverty

Mr Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party (LP) in February 25 election, urges students to join the party in rescuing Nigeria from poverty, unemployment and poor education funding by voting wisely.

Obi said this in Nsukka on Thursday during a visit to his alma mater, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), to interact with students.

He said that the purpose of the visit was to inform students of his ambition and solicit for their votes in the forthcoming general elections.
