‘It’s Discriminatory’ – ASUU, ASUP Kick Against FG’s Student Loan Bill
National president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, and the national president of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Anderson Ezeibe, have expressed their concerns over the Student Loan Bill recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu.
According to Dele Alake, a presidential aide, the Student Loan Bill aims at liberalizing funding of education and will also enable indigent students to access loans at interest-free rates, Alake had said the move was in sync with standard practice globally and would ease access to education.

JAMB to decide tertiary admission cut-off mark June 24
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and other stakeholders have scheduled June 24 as the date to decide the cut-off mark for 2023 admissions into universities, polytechnics, and other tertiary institutions.
According to the JAMB weekly bulletin, which was made available to newsmen by Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Director of Public Affairs at JAMB, the event will take place at the National Judicial Institute and will be attended by heads of tertiary institutions and regulatory bodies, including the National Universities Commission, National Board for Technical Education, and the National Commission for Colleges of Education, among others.

MDCN advises medical graduates against relocating abroad

ASURI wants dissolution of NACETEM board
The Academic Staff Union of Research Institutions has called for an immediate dissolution of the governing board of the National Centre for Technology Management over what the union tagged, ‘misuse of power,’ by the board. The academic union also commended the Federal Government for “following due process” in the appointment of the new Director General of the center, Dr Victor Odukoya.
In a letter jointly addressed to the President, Bola Tinubu, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the union affirmed that the appointment of the new NACTEM DG complied with the provision of all laid down guidelines.
