2023 Admissions: JAMB Gives Update on Cut-Off Marks for University, Polytechnic and College of Education

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given an update on cut-off marks for universities and other tertiary institutions.

The examination body revealed that the cut-off for universities and other tertiary institutions in the country will be decided on June 24 JAMB added that the decision will be made during a meeting with all heads of tertiary institutions and regulatory bodies.

Jigawa govt distributes 38,000 uniforms to female students

The Jigawa State Government has commenced the distribution of 38,911 sets of uniforms to female students of Senior Secondary Schools in the state.

The Permanent Secretary, Jigawa State Ministry of Education, Alhaji Abba Mustapha stated this at the inauguration of the exercise on Monday in Jahun, headquarters of Jahun Local Government Area of the state.

UNICAL sacks 20 graduate assistants for failing to acquire master’s degree

THE University of Calabar has terminated the appointment of 20 of its graduate assistants for failing to obtain a master’s degree after allegedly working in the institution for years.

In a statement on Monday, June 19, the school said that the sack was in line with its workers’ 2014 regulations governing the condition of service of its staff.

Suspended UNILAG student activist Adeyeye Olorunfemi finally graduates after seven years

Mr Adeyeye, alongside some students, were suspended from the university in a list posted on the institution’s website for participating in a protest in April 2016.

The protest led to suspending the students’ union body in the institution, while the affected students faced penalties ranging from two to four semesters of suspension from academic activities.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, has called on stakeholders in the university system to come together and decide on the effective management of the educational institutions in the country.

Egbewole while delivering a lecture at the second quarter courses 2023 of the Nigerian Army Institute of Science Education and Technology, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin, Kwara State suggested that all the stakeholders including; government, parents, universities/tertiary institutions, private sector, staff unions, students and indeed the administrators of the institutions should come together and take appropriate decisions on the effective management of education in Nigeria.

The management of Osun State University, Osogbo, on Monday, said Governor Ademola Adeleke, has approved payment of bonuses to its staff to cushion the harsh effects of the fuel subsidy removal.

ENUGU – Media practitioners and the Ministry of Education have been enjoined to build an education campaign in Enugu, Benue and Cross River states to enhance more registration of children on Nigeria Learning Passport (NLP).

The charge was given by Chief of United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) Enugu Field Office, Juliet Chiluwe, during a one-day meeting to determine the key initiatives on how to achieve uptake of NLP in communities, schools, LGAs, hard to reach areas, and for all persons living in difficult circumstances organised by the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board and the Enugu State Ministry of Education, in collaboration with UNICEF.

Mr. Ben-Lutnaan Duamlong is a graduate of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), class of 2021. He was celebrated at the just concluded 33rd and 34th combined convocation of UNIJOS as the best graduating student of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts.

Duamlong set an academic record for graduating as the best student with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.32 at 70 years old, as announced by the vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Tanko Ishaya.
