Zamfara govt approves registration of candidates for 2023 WAEC, NECO exams

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the official request to register candidates slated for the 2023 Senior School Certificate Examinations, SSCE, conducted by the West African Examination Council, WAEC, and National Examination Council, NECO.

According to a public announcement made available to newsmen by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Education, Kabiru Attahiru, all candidates that passed the mock examinations are eligible to register.

Katsina schools get one week holiday to celebrate Sallah

Katsina State Government has approved a one week holiday for staff and students of primary and secondary schools in the state ahead of the big Sallah festival, Eid-el Kabir.

The acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Alhaji Ya’u Jibrin who disclosed this in a statement said the decision was to enable the students to enjoy the 2023 Eid-el Kabir festival slated for June 28 with their families.

Edo Govt Employs New Staff For College Of Education

BENIN – The Edo State Government has said the newly revamped Edo State College of Education will boost the capacity of teachers in the State to sustain the gains recorded in the education sector over the past six years by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration.

Dangote donates multi-million naira health, educational facilities to coal communities

The Dangote Coal Mines Limited has donated multimillion naira health and educational facilities to the coal mining communities of Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi.

The newly commissioned facilities are located in the host communities of Awo Akpali and Awo Ojuwo in Ankpa Local Government Area.
Dangote’s General Manager, Special Duties, Nuhu Elujah, said the projects are contained in the mutually consented Community Development Agreement (CDA).

70% of Niger schools have drug clubs, says NDLEA

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Niger State Command, has revealed that 70 per cent of schools in the state have established drug clubs to curb abuse. The Commander, Bwalin Musa, gave the hint while briefing journalists in his office in Minna, over the weekend, as part of activities to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, with the theme, ‘People First, Stop Stigmatisation and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention’.

According to Musa, in recent times, officers and men of the command had embarked on awareness campaigns to secondary and tertiary institutions in the state to educate the students on the dangers associated with intake of illicit drugs, adding that lecturers were not left out of the sensitisation.
