FUTO crisis: NANS tackles ASUU over call for VC’s resignation

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has warned the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), over its call for the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Professor Nnenna Oti, to resign, urging the union to rescind from such ugly move or face the wrath of the students.

Vice President, National Association of Nigerian Students, Comrade Victor Ezenagu, gave the warning while addressing journalists in Abuja, on Sunday on the crisis allegedly orchestrated by ASUU, which the students observed could plunge the peaceful University into a prolonged impasse.

Alumni charge graduating Babcock students to create more impact

Two Babcock University alumni have called on the institution’s 2023 graduating set also known as Zircon Grad Class never to settle for less when they can be more in a fast changing world with declining moral values.
The call came as the GMD/CEO of Irvin Global Investment Ltd, Nwangwa Uzonna and actress, Beverly Osu, spoke at the 2023 Alumni Connectivity programme which had the theme “Igniting Connections, Fuelling Success.”

Despite literacy concerns, 79 schools in Bauchi have one teacher each

The Director of School Services of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Bauchi Korijo Usman, disclosed this on Sunday, August 6, during a dialogue with journalists.

“In Misau, there are 79 schools that have only one teacher each, while there are zero schools with no teacher. All the schools have teachers except that they are not adequate.

World Bank, FG offer 300 students skills acquisition training in Nasarawa

About 300 students of the Federal College of Science and Technical College in Doma, Nasarawa State have been trained in a programme organized by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the World Bank.
The training was organized under the World Bank’s Innovation Development and Effectiveness in Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project and is aimed at addressing the issue of unemployment affecting many Nigerian youths.

Atiku drags Tinubu before US court over educational qualifications

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, has dragged President Bola Tinubu before the United States of America District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Special Assistant on Public Communications to Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu, who confirmed the development on Sunday night, said his principal’s fresh suit against Tinubu marked No. 23-5099 (N. D. III.), was the reason Atiku withdrew an existing case before a Circuit Court in Illinois.

Zulum grants N80 million to Islamic school in Borno

Governor Banagana Zulum of Borno has approved an N80 million grant to Guwori Islamic Academy in the Jere Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Zulum, who announced this on Sunday at the school’s graduation ceremony, said the gesture would enhance education opportunities for vulnerable children.
