The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has called for collaboration between industries and universities to provide solutions to the nation’s challenges.

Olatunji-Bello, who spoke at the Fifth Research and Innovation Fair of the university, themed: “Harnessing sustainable research and innovation in Nigerian universities towards national growth and development,” said the partnership would engender national growth and development through research outputs.

Access to quality education top priority in Delta, says Oborevwori

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has said his administration was working assiduously to ensure that every child in the state have access to complete and functional education comparable to any part of the world.

Foundation pays WAEC/NECO fees for indigent students in Edo

Founder of Okoukoni Care Foundation, Mr. Martins Okoukoni, has flagged off the free West African Examination Council’s (WAEC) enrolment fund to students in Edo State, as part of activities commemorating the 7th edition of the foundation.

Okoukoni explained that the scheme has been on for over six years, with support to pay examination fees of indigent students. He said the foundation was established to bridge the gap as most brilliant students, oftentimes, drop out of school for their inability to meet up with the financial requirements. UI, NDLEA collaborate to fight drug abuse

The University of Ibadan (UI) and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have expressed their readiness to work together to fight drug abuse, especially among university students.

Charterhouse School berths in Lagos, harps on qualitative teaching, learning

Charterhouse, a renowned British independent educational institution of over four centuries has unveiled its first African school in Lagos.

With the planned $150 million campus expected to be fully delivered in 2028, Charterhouse, located in Lekki, is expected to admit its first intake of primary school students in September 2024. Winners of Mike Okonkwo essay competition get prizes

Two secondary school pupils who emerged winners of the 2023 Mike Okonkwo National Essay Competition have been rewarded with cash prizes, plaques and trophies.

Global literacy rate now 86 per cent, says UNESCO

The Federal Government has reassured of its readiness to fight the scourge of illiteracy in the country. The commitment came as Nigeria joined the rest of the world to commemorate the 2023 International Literacy Day.

Themed “Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies,” Education Minister, Prof. Tahir Mamman, said it is important to explore the patterns of transformation and adjustment that had characterised education globally as a result of its ever-increasing scope. Chicago State University confirms Tinubu’s student records

The Chicago State University (CSU), has finally confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu actually attended and graduated from the university.

In a statement released on Friday clarifying its position on the controversies surrounding the President’s educational status, the University said it can confirm Tinubu graduated from the institution but could not however, authenticate the diploma because, according to the statement, it was just a ceremonial document that is not part of a student’s official academic file.
