Five Nigerian universities have been mentioned as running unaccredited engineering courses in the country University of Abuja(UNIABUJA), University of Calabar (UNICAL), Modibbo Adama University, Yola, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and Technical University Ibadan, Oyo state.

A total of 20 beneficiaries of the Lady Josephine Diete-Spiff Foundation Scholarship Scheme, which is supported by the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC), have emerged as the best graduating secondary school students from Titare Royal Star Academy in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

NUC not COREN supervises Unical – Vice Chancellor

Prof. Florence Obi, Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Calabar (UniCal), has disclosed that UniCal was supervised by the National Universities Commission, (NUC) and not Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, (COREN).

Three secondary school students, 17 others killed as cultists clash in Sagamu

Residents of Sagamu in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State now live in fear, as no fewer than 20 young men were killed as the Eiye and Aiye confraternities resumed their usual supremacy battle in the town.

University fees’ hike

It would appear some of the issues to the last suspended strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU are creeping back, albeit, from a different angle. Emerging events are beginning to raise concerns as to the genuineness of some of the promises made by the government for which ASUU called off its strike action towards the end of last year.

Central to this was the issue of adequate funding for the universities. Then, the government had said it made a provision of N300 billion revitalization funds in the 2023 appropriation bill to improve infrastructural facilities and operations in the federal universities.
