FedPoly Bauchi to run degree programmes in mass communication, others

It has been ascertained that the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has all the necessary structures, facilities, and manpower to run degree programmes in management and social sciences.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Prof. Liman Tukur, gave the tip when he led a team from the university to the Polytechnic to perfect the process of affiliation through resource verification, which is one of the requirements for approval to run degree programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC). 1,500 Corps members take oath of allegiance in Anambra

A total of 1,500 prospective Corps members, comprising 714 males and 786 females posted to Anambra state took the oath of allegiance at the NYSC permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu in Awka South Local Government Area of the state, on Tuesday.

First Bayelsa private varsity, Hensard, set to commence operations

TETFund to partner REA on power supply for varsities

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) is set to collaborate with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to ensure uninterrupted power supply in universities and other tertiary institutions in the country.

FUOYE begins two-week digital skills training for students

Zamfara govt set to elevate College of Animal Science to polytechnic status

Zamfara state government has set to upgrade the College of Animal Science (CAS) Bakura, established by the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, to the status of a polytechnic in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the public relations officer of the Zamfara State Ministry of Agriculture, Bashir Abashiya, the ministry said it has secured approval from His Excellency the Executive Governor, Dauda Lawal, for the accreditation of some courses at the College of Agriculture and Animal Science in Bakura. KDU VC charges FG to extend students’ loan to private varsity students

The vice chancellor of KolaDaisi University-Ibadan (KDU-I), Professor Adeniyi Olatunbosun, has urged the Federal Government to extend the proposed loan scheme to cover all the tertiary institutions in the country, be saying ‘it is the products that will eventually transform the society.”

“The scheme should not be restricted to the federal universities alone, but spread to cover many homes where financial support is needed. I believe there is a need for extension,” he stressed. The Senate recently passed for second reading, a bill recommending jail term for parents who fail to enrol their wards for primary and secondary education.

The legislation sponsored by Senator Orji Kalu, and titled: “Compulsory Free Universal Basic Education Act 2004, Section 2,” states that it is the responsibility of every government in Nigeria to provide free, mandatory, and universal basic education to every child of primary and junior secondary school age.
