Osun 2023 education summit’s report must be implemented – CDHR

Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), on Wednesday, charged the Osun government to quickly implement recommendations made at its 2023 education summit.

Osun held a three-day education summit from Aug. 22 to Aug. 24, 2023.

CDHR’s Executive Director, Mr Emmanuel Olowu, stated in Osogbo that the group submitted its contribution to the education summit with the title: “Science education is in the state of comatose.’’

Educationist Onwudili dies at 84

The death has been announced of a retired educationist, community and religious leader, Pa M.O Onwudili. Pa Onwudili will be remembered as a disciplinarian, humble and intelligent educator.

The Ibusa Delta State-born educationist started his career as a classroom teacher and became a secondary school principal of one of the oldest secondary schools in the old Bendel State now Edo State Our Lady of Fatima College, Auchi.

Makinde Presents N434bn Budget, Prioritises Education, Infrastructure

The Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, Tuesday presented the N434.2 billion budget estimates for the 2024 fiscal year to the state’s House of Assembly for approval.

The fiscal document christened “Economic Recovery” has N222.3bn as capital expenditure and N211.8bn as recurrent expenditure.

These figures, according to Makinde, reflect a slight difference of 2.4 per cent increase in capital expenditure as against recurrent expenditure.
