The National Universities Commission (NUC), has denounced the list of fake professors in some Nigerian universities being circulated in the media.
Chris Maiyaki, NUC Acting Executive Secretary, described the list as ‘fake, unfounded, untrue and a figment of the imagination of the author(s)’.
The list, he explained, was initially published by the Commission in 2019, stressing that efforts are ongoing to update it. AAU disowns satellite campuses, wants operators arrested
Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, has called on security agencies to arrest and prosecute any operator of satellite campuses, as the state-owned university has not given permission to anyone to run any satellite campus on its behalf, either directly or indirectly.
The university’s Head of Corporate Communications and Protocol, Mike Ade Aladenika, who disclosed this in a statement at the weekend in Benin City, denied a recent report in a national newspaper, credited to the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), alleging the existence of satellite campuses being run in the name of the university and awarding certificates. Unilorin expends N1.3bn on electricity annually – VC
Prof. Wahab Egbewole, the Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin (Unilorin) says the institution expends about N1.3 billion annually on electricity, in spite of its financial challenges.
The vice chancellor disclosed thisnon Monday in his office during an interactive session between the management and the Unilorin Students’ Union Executive Committee members.

FCTA to sanction school principals for students’ low turnout
The Federal Capital Territory Administration has said threatened to sanction principals and school administrators responsible for the low turnout of students in public schools.
The Secretary of the FCTA Education Secretariat, Dr Danlami Hayyo, dropped the warning when he led the management team of the secretariat for the 2024 second-term resumption visitation and inspection to select schools in the Territory.
Though satisfied with the turnout of students in the schools visited, the Secretary, however, warned that the administration will not take it likely with any school found to record low student turnout, as such development, he said, translates to failure on the part of the school authority. Taraba govt reintroduces history in basic schools
The Taraba Government has announced plans to reintroduce history as a subject in the basic education curriculum in schools in the state.
Governor Agbu Kefas made this known when he hosted journalists at a dinner in Jalingo on Sunday.

We need bursary for law school, Enugu students appeals to Gov Mbah
Students of Enugu State under the aegis of the National Association OF Enugu State Law Students have appealed to the State governor, Peter Mbah to approve the payment of the bursary.
According to the students, the bursary will enable them pay their tuition in pursuit of a career in law at the Nigerian Law school.

Sexual harassment: Suspended UNICAL professor remanded in Kuje Prison
Prof Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, UNICAL, charged with alleged sexual harassment, was on Monday remanded in Kuje Prison on the orders of an Abuja Federal High Court.
Ndifon, who is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, before Justice James Omotosho, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge.

Fellowship alumni invest in payment of OAU student fees
Some graduate members of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Unification, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Campus Fellowship have committed over 1.6 million naira to the payment of school fees for undergraduate students of the university for the 2022/2023 session.
Working under the auspices of Trustees of the Isokan Excellence Bursary Scheme (IEBS), the former students supported the payment of school fees for 25 students who are also members of the Fellowship, in what was the fifth consecutive edition in the series.

Northern leaders vow to end child trafficking, theft
Northern leaders at the weekend made commitments to work tirelessly to end the menace of child abduction and trafficking in a bid to protect children’s rights and development.
At the maiden Stakeholders’ Meeting organised by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Kano Chapter, northern leaders also vowed to implement wide programmes aimed at eliminating drug abuse, banditry and kidnapping.
Speaking at the meeting, Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, said the Kano Emirate Council would no longer condone the heinous crime of theft of minors, abducted and sold in some southern parts of the country. JPTS clarifies misconceptions about institute
An education firm, Joint Professionals Training and Support International (JPTS), has called on the public to get abreast of what the institution stands for, saying that it is necessary to make it clear in disregard to the wrong impressions created by few persons.
In a statement by the school’s Director of Public Affairs, Amb. Emeagi Emeka Williams, he alleged some individuals have peddled disinformation about the institute which the management deemed necessary to strengthen.

In his investigative report entitled, “How Daily Nigerian reporter bagged Cotonou varsity degree in 6 weeks,” released by Daily Nigerian on 30 December 2023, Umar Audu exposed a booming certificate racketeering syndicate in neighbouring African countries like Benin Republic and Togo which specialises in selling university degrees to willing buyers from Nigeria.
The certificate and transcript which came at the affordable sum of ₦600,000 bore the authentic scan code of Ecole Superieure de Gestion et de Technologies, ESGT, Benin Republic. He was able to get the certificate without having to apply, register, study, or take any tests.

Resumption: Jigawa government monitors compliance in public schools
The Jigawa government has dispatched teams across secondary schools to monitor the resumption of students for the second term.
Wasilu Umar, spokesperson for the Jigawa Ministry of Education, stated this in an interiew in Dutse on Sunday.
