JAMB BEGINS SALE OF 2024 UTME APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the sale of its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application
documents for the 2024/2025 Academic Session.

The exercise, which is scheduled to end within three weeks, precisely on Monday, 5th February, 2024, commenced on Monday, 15th, January, 2024.
All candidates desiring to attend Nigerian tertiary institutions are, therefore, urged to immediately create their profiles, obtain the e-PINs and proceed to register at the approved CBT centres.
The e-PIN, which is N7,700 with mock UTME and N6,200 without mock-UTME, would be sold at designated financial institutions as listed on the Board’s website.

As a responsive organisation, the Board has restructured its 2024 procedure to allow for candidates, who wish to drop or add name(s) to their already created profiles, provided such modifications have been effected on the NIMC database. This process, it should be noted, has been instituted to begin from 2024 to address the clamour by some candidates, who had created profile in previous exercises but wish to change their details especially name(s). However, such changes attract a fee in order to dissuade candidates from abusing this privilege especially as the Board is
not absolutely convinced by the lame arguments advanced by many
candidates to justify such undertakings.

Candidates, are also advised to carefully check their details as contained on their NIN slip to ensure that they correspond with their other credentials to avoid any inconsistencies as the Board would not entertain any request for change of details after registration.

It is also imperative to note that the Board would not be extending its
stated UTME registration period, therefore, candidates are to ensure
that they register within the window provided for the 2024 UTME
registration.

2024 UTME: JAMB WARNS FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AGAINST EXTORTION

As the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) kickstarts the sale of 2024 UTME application documents, financial institutions have been warned against extorting candidates.

The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, gave the warning at a virtual meeting with financial institutions, banks, e-PIN vending agents, among others.

According to the Registrar, the Board would not hesitate to withdraw the accreditation of any service partners caught selling its application forms
above agreed price. He, therefore, urged financial institutions to diligently
monitored their agents to avoid anything that might tarnish their hard earned reputation.

Prof. Oloyede condemned the unwholesome activities of some agents of banks during the sale of the 2023 UTME application documents noting
that it was on account of the respect for their parent institutions that the
Board decided to pardon them.

“This year we would not leave any stone unturned to safeguard the
integrity of our system as we place more premium on integrity, hence
cutting corners in any form would not be helpful for any organisation,” he
said.

The meeting was called to intimate the financial institutions on the modalities for sales, process of e-PIN vending, creation of profiles,
cashless policy, remittance, dates for sales, closure, retrieval of lost e-PIN,
among others.

Earlier the Director of finance and Accounts, Mr Mufutau Bello, made a detailed and comprehensive passionate appeal to these service providers to play by the rules of the game.

2024 UTME: JAMB MEETS CBT ADMINISTRATORS,
CLEARS 747 CENTRES FOR REGISTRATION, EXAMINATION

A exercise scheduled to commence on Monday, 15th January, 2024,
the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has met with CBT
administrators on the modalities for a hitch free exercise.

It would be recalled that the Board had shortlisted 907 CBT centres for
accreditation, but at the conclusion of revalidation and integrity tests, it was only able to certify 747 centres for the 2024 UTME exercise.

While briefing critical stakeholders at a virtual meeting held on Monday, 8th
January, 2024, the ICT consultant to the Board, Mr Dami lola Bamiro, congratulated those centres that passed the integrity test to count themselves lucky urging them not to
compromise on standards that earned them accreditation.

He said the Board would not compromise on its standards and urged those centres that scale
through the hurdle of accreditation to jealously guard their position as no centre is indispensable.

Mr Bamiro also disclosed that the Board was set to fully embrace HIK vision CCTV system as it comes equipped with a minimum of 16 channels to cover vital areas of their facilities and urged centres to migrate speedily as 2024 had been designated as the take-off year.

According to him, centres that failed to record their examination session during the UTME would not be paid for those sessions. He enjoined centres to maintain 24 pot switches, which must be connected to uninterrupted power source(UPS) at all times.

Furthermore, Mr Bamiro stated that the Board would not hesitate to withdraw the accreditation of any centres, which engage in unlawful migration of candidates from one computer system to another because each system has a unique identifier noting that such unwholesome act could jeopardise the prospects of such candidates.

On network coverage, Mr Bamiro advised centres that had problem not to hesitate to escalate it for the Board to include such in its optimisation plans adding that all centres must be located within area with good Airtel and MTN services.

Similarly, Mr Bamiro reminded centres of the imperative of using static IP address system rather than dynamic ones because of the Board’s software design which were pattern in line with static ID.

REGISTRAR WINS SERVICOM 2023 BEST SUPPORTIVE CEO

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has won the 2023 Service Compact with all Nigerians (SERVICOM) Best Supportive CEO Award.

The National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, presented the award to the Registrar during the Organisation’s annual performance recognition and award ceremony held on 19th December, 2023.

She said, “We are encouraged by your inspiring and innovative ways of ensuring that Nigerians receive quality and timely service from the Nigerian State. We shall continue to count on your support and cooperation as a key stakeholder in the provision of satisfactory services to all citizens in the realization of the essence of governance.

During the event, the Board’s SERVICOM unit also bagged the 2023 Best SERVICOM unit in Team C while the Board’s Nodal Officer, Mrs Ngozi Ebuna, was awarded the 2023 Best Performing Nodal Officer in Team C.

2024 UTME: FCT ZONAL DIRECTOR TASK STAFF ON EFFICENCY, PROFESSIONALISM

Ahead of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration exercise, the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) Zonal Director, Mrs Zainab Hamza, has charged the staff to exhibit a high level of efficiency, communication skills and professionalism in dealing with candidates.

The Zonal Director gave this advice at a lecture organised for staff of the Zonal Office on Tuesday, 9th January, 2024. She pointed out that the lecture was to keep the staff abreast of ways and manner of attending to the general public and candidates in particular with a view to rendering satisfactory and efficient services.

Mrs Hamza urged staff to pay rapt attention to the lecture describing it as not only timely but one that would enhance efficiency of labour and prompt service delivery.

In a paper printed by the Assistant Director, Psychometrics Department, JAMB, Dr Priscilla Atteh, titled: “Effective Workplace Communication: Tips and Tools”, the various ways of relating with the public without compromising standards while being courteous, especially to candidates with special needs, where elucidated.

Dr Atte, a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) also stressed the need for staff to be properly educated on the importance of effective communication with candidates.

Earlier in her presentation, Dr Atteh had pointed out the importance of registering for professional bodies stating that such could be useful in career development. She admonished the staff to be vigilant and demand maximum concentration from candidates to reduce the incidence of errors during the 2024 UTME registration exercise and beyond.

JAMB UYO TASKS STAFF ON PREPARATION FOR 2024 UTME REGISTRATION

Ahead of the upcoming 2024 UTME registration, the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Olima William, has had a brief meeting members of staff of the state office in Uyo on Tuesday, 9th Jan. 2024.

Mrs William in her address, applauded the staff for their commitment so far in rendering their services to the Board and charged them to live up to their responsibilities throughout the conduct of the forthcoming registration exercise. She disclosed that, the exercise is scheduled to commence on the 15th January, 2024.

The State Coordinator in her characteristic manner of delegating specific duties to capable hands assigned key responsibilities to some staff members and enjoined them to work diligently and cautiously as usual, to avoid mistakes that may jeopardize the name of the Board or affect the candidates adversely.

Mrs William further stressed on the need for every staff to be prepared as expected, to put in extra working hours according to the anticipated volume of work, as staff are expected to work from Monadys to Fridays including Saturdays. She however reiterated that, adjustments on the work’s time table shall be made as the need arises and solicited continous cooperation and teamwork amongst the staff for a hitch-free exercise.

JALINGO OFFICE, READY FOR 2024 UTME REGISTRATION

As the registration of candidates for the 2024 UTME/DE examination commences on Monday 15th January, 2024, the State Coordinator, Taraba State Office, Mrs Veronica Ayuba, has disclosed that all is set for the commencement of the registration exercise in the state.

While addressing the staff of the State Office in her new year speech, the State Coordinator said all hands must be on deck for a smooth take off of the exercise. She counselled staff not to collect candidates details for any reasons to avoid mixing up their data during the registration process. She thanked all the members of the staff especially those working at the Provisional Registration Centre (PRC) for their success in the 2023 registration and examination cycle and all other services rendered to the Board and the general public in past years. she urged them not to relent in their efforts in making the country great.
