The Emmanuel Alayande University of Education community mourns the passing of Professor Adebowale Ojo, the Dean of the Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education. Professor Ojo’s demise occurred on Tuesday following a successful surgery at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. The news was conveyed to the university through a statement issued by the Registrar, Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, on Wednesday, confirming the profound loss.

Expressing deep shock, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan, received the news with heavy hearts. Professor Ojo, who was serving on sabbatical at the university, held a distinguished career in academia. Prior to his tenure at Emmanuel Alayande University, he served as a Professor of Education Evaluation and twice as Provost at Tai Solarin College of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

With academic credentials from reputable institutions including the University of Ilorin, the University of Lagos, and the University of Ibadan, Professor Ojo contributed significantly to the field of education. His expertise extended beyond the classroom as he held leadership positions such as Chairman of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State, and membership in governing bodies like the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria.

Professor Ojo’s dedication to education spanned over four decades, beginning his service at Ogun State College of Education, Ijagun, before transitioning to university-level appointments. He was recognized as a Chief Lecturer and later elevated to the esteemed position of Professor. Emmanuel Alayande University of Education honored him with a sabbatical leave, appointing him as the pioneering Dean of the Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education, a role he held until his untimely passing. The university community, alongside colleagues, students, and well-wishers, extends heartfelt condolences to Professor Ojo’s family and loved ones. As they grapple with this immense loss, the Vice Chancellor offers prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed soul and strength for the bereaved to bear the loss.
