The Federal Government has initiated the process of upgrading facilities and laboratories in 50 selected public senior secondary schools across Nigeria. The announcement was made by the Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission, Iyela Ajayi, during a visit to Nasarawa State Education Commissioner John Mamman. According to a statement from the agency’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Fatima Bappare, the Government College in Nasarawa State is among the institutions chosen for the upgrade.

Ajayi emphasized the government’s commitment to the development of the education sector, citing President Bola Tinubu’s prioritization of education evident in the budget allocation to the sector in the current year’s Appropriation Act. He highlighted the significance of the upgrade project, stating that it reflects the administration’s dedication to enhancing senior secondary education nationwide.

The initiative is aimed at improving learning environments and providing modern facilities to enhance the quality of education offered in public senior secondary schools.In light of the planned upgrades, Ajayi called for collaboration between the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education and the appointed consultant responsible for overseeing the Government College’s renovation.

The cooperation between the state government and the consultant is deemed crucial for ensuring the seamless implementation and successful completion of the upgrade project. As the Federal Government takes proactive steps to enhance educational infrastructure, stakeholders are optimistic about the positive impact these improvements will have on the overall quality of secondary education across the country.
