The Head of National Office of West African Examinations Council (Nigeria), Dr. Amos Dangut, expressed satisfaction with the positive feedback received from various stakeholders regarding the council’s digital certificate platform. Speaking at a press briefing in Yaba, Lagos, Dr. Dangut highlighted the platform’s role in simplifying result verification, accessing, sharing, and confirming certificates, as well as expediting student admissions into tertiary institutions globally.

Dr. Dangut noted that stakeholders both within Nigeria and abroad have commended the platform’s uniqueness and compliance with global best practices in data protection. The digital certificate platform has streamlined processes and ensured the integrity of candidates’ data, making it resistant to manipulation.

Organizations from different parts of the world have reached out to WAEC, recognizing the platform’s efficiency and security measures. Additionally, Dr. Dangut announced the commencement date for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

The examination will run for seven weeks and six days, concluding on Monday, June 24, 2024, across four WAEC member countries: Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Dr. Dangut assured stakeholders of WAEC’s readiness to conduct a credible examination, thanking them for their continuous support and cooperation.
