Olaniyi Israel Adewale, a student of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has made history by completing a 200-hour drumming marathon, setting a new world record for an individual.

Popularly known as Enny Percussions, Adewale embarked on his remarkable journey on April 29, initiating a 150-hour drumming attempt using an African talking drum. After successfully surpassing the 150-hour mark, the determined 300-level computer science student decided to extend his feat by an additional 50 hours of continuous drumming.

Adewale’s incredible accomplishment did not go unnoticed, as the Guinness World Records (GWR) acknowledged and approved his record-breaking attempt. Expressing his gratitude on Instagram after concluding the marathon, Adewale thanked everyone who supported and encouraged him throughout the challenging endeavor.

He particularly appreciated Guinness World Records for granting him approval and recognition, as well as his sponsor, @mlpercussions, for their support and encouragement. Adewale also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to notable figures like @woliagba_ayoajewole and other celebrities who engaged with his journey.

The previous record for the longest marathon drumming by an individual stood at 150 hours and 1 minute, achieved by Allister Brown in Lisburn, County Antrim, UK, from July 16 to 22 July 2023. Brown undertook his drumming marathon to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer and honor his late partner, raising over £25,000 for pancreatic cancer and mental health support charities in the process.
