The management of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund has confirmed that state-owned institutions are included in the student loan program.

In response to misleading narratives on social media claiming that the student loan program was exclusively for federal institutions, NELFUND clarified the situation in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by Nasir Ayitogo, Media and Public Relations Lead.

Ayitogo, however, explained that the initial phase of the program would focus on students attending federal institutions.

He stated that “The information suggesting that state institutions are excluded is incorrect”. “State institutions are unequivocally included in our student loan program by law. The program is designed to roll out in phases to ensure effective and efficient management of the process.”
