The federal government has praised Osun State for being the only state among the 36 in Nigeria with an ongoing school feeding programme. This commendation was delivered by Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, the Senior Special Assistant to the President, during a meeting with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Dr. Adeniji highlighted that Osun State’s unwavering commitment to the school feeding initiative has elated all stakeholders, describing it as a rare demonstration of love for the growth and development of young children.
“The dedication of Osun State to the school feeding programme stands as a remarkable example for the nation. This is a testament to the state’s commitment to the welfare and development of its young citizens,” said Dr. Adeniji.
The commendation was part of the events marking the commencement of a pilot study ‘value for money,’ for which Osun State was selected due to its passion and high standards in running the school feeding programme.
Governor Adeleke, during the re-launch of the programme, reaffirmed his belief in providing robust support for children to ensure their orderly transition into youth. He proudly stated that the O-Meal programme continues with enhanced features, making Osun State a standout among its peers.
“The O-Meal programme is ongoing even with more features. I am proud my state stands out among the 36 states on the O-Meal programme,” Governor Adeleke stated.
He also called on the opposition to acknowledge this positive development, urging them to set aside political differences and appreciate the benefits of the programme, which serves all pupils regardless of political affiliations.
“Our administration equally reassures the federal government and the mandate ministry that Osun State will continue to implement the programme at a very high standard,” Adeleke added.
The Osun State school feeding programme, known for its high standards and consistent implementation, continues to receive accolades and serves as a model for other states to emulate, showcasing the importance of investing in the health and education of young children.
