Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has approved a series of projects for the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) within the state. The projects include the completion of a boarding school in Zarama community, a primary school at the Air Force Base, and a training centre in Angalabiri community.

During a courtesy visit by Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, to Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Diri directed relevant commissioners to ensure the timely completion and handover of these projects. He also instructed the completion of documentation for the approval of the Certificate of Occupancy for the permanent site of the Air Force near the state airport.

Governor Diri emphasized that his administration is committed to continuing projects initiated by previous administrations, ensuring no project is abandoned. He expressed his gratitude to the NAF for its collaboration with the state government, which has significantly contributed to maintaining peace in Bayelsa. The governor also called for further partnership between the state and the Air Force.

Furthermore, Governor Diri commended the Air Force and the military for their role in ensuring a free and credible governorship election in the state. He reiterated his belief in the importance of doing the right thing and stated that he never sought the military’s assistance to win elections but to ensure fairness.

Air Marshal Abubakar, who previously headed the Mobility Command in Yenagoa, described the visit as a homecoming. He expressed his gratitude to Governor Diri for his continuous support to the Air Force and his commitment to the state’s security. He acknowledged the state government’s donation of land for the Air Force’s permanent site and the schools, appealing for the completion of all necessary documentation and project handovers.

Air Marshal Abubakar assured the governor that the Air Force remains a reliable partner, committed to progress and collaboration with Bayelsa State.
