The Home-Grown Parliamentary System Support Group (PSSG) has extended the submission deadline for the National Essay Competition on Parliamentary System due to overwhelming interest from Nigerian students globally.

Originally set for June 12, 2024, the new deadline is now midnight July 31, 2024. The competition, open to Nigerian students in tertiary institutions worldwide, has seen a remarkable response since its launch last month. Many entries have flooded the essay portal, prompting appeals for an extension from students.

In response to this enthusiasm, the PSSG has also scheduled the National Discussion for Monday, September 9 in Abuja. During this event, distinguished guests and the public will deliberate on the essay topic.

The essay competition was initiated following the presentation of bills by members of the House of Representatives in February, aiming to transition from the current presidential system to a parliamentary system at all government levels.
