The National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) and the Students Union of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have issued statements clarifying that Oni Olalekan, a student accused of raping a male colleague, is not affiliated with either organization.

NAOSS, in their statement, emphasized that Olalekan, also known as Asiwaju, has no ties with their association. “We would like to clarify that this individual is not a member of our association nor has any affiliation with us,” the statement read. They stressed the importance of addressing any misinformation promptly to avoid confusion among the public. NAOSS also encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact the association’s board, urging the community to uphold the association’s values and principles.

Similarly, the FUOYE Student Union, through a communique signed by President Ebo Timilehin, General Secretary Akinwande Olusegun, and Public Relations Officer Omotayo Tolulope, confirmed that Asiwaju is not a member or appointee of the Students Union Government. They reassured the public that the Students Union Government is actively handling the situation and is committed to ensuring justice is served. “Please be assured that the FUOYESUG is actively addressing this matter and will take all necessary actions to ensure that justice is served. Thank you,” the statement concluded.

Asiwaju, a 400-level student at FUOYE, was accused of raping a male colleague on Monday, June 10, 2024. His arrest was confirmed by Abutu Sunday, the Ekiti State Public Relations Officer, who also mentioned that an investigation is underway.

These clarifications from both NAOSS and the FUOYE Student Union aim to dispel any misconceptions about Asiwaju’s affiliation with their organizations, highlighting their commitment to maintaining their reputations and ensuring a just resolution to the incident.
