The Kaduna State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality education to the children of the less privileged and vulnerable populations in the state. This commitment was highlighted by Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on the school feeding program, during a special Eid el-Kabir Sallah celebration held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Bilingual Primary School in Maraban Gonda, Sabongari local council.

In a statement released in Abuja, Dr. Buhari-Ado explained that the government organized the celebration to fete pupils who combine both Western and Islamic education. This effort is part of an ongoing initiative to ensure that children from less privileged backgrounds have access to quality education.

“The government decided to celebrate with these pupils as part of our commitment to ensuring that children of the less privileged have access to quality education,” she stated. She further emphasized that the school feeding program, which has so far cost the state government over N4 billion, has significantly boosted school enrollment and retention, as well as stimulated the local economy.

Dr. Buhari-Ado revealed that over 25,000 school pupils across the 23 local councils of Kaduna State are currently benefiting from the school feeding program. She added that the event, which included the slaughtering of a sacrificial ram, a special Eid lunch, the cutting of a cake, and the distribution of free gifts, provided an opportunity to interact with pupils who were previously out-of-school children.

Malam AbdulHamid Ahmed, an official from one of the Islamic schools, praised the school feeding initiative as a transformative development. He noted that it has created an enabling environment for vulnerable children to gain equal opportunities for education in the state. “The school feeding program has significantly increased school enrollment in my school,” he acknowledged.

Magaji Datiya, the village head of Filin Malawa, also expressed gratitude to Governor Sani’s administration for the kind gesture. He thanked the government for its efforts in supporting education and improving the lives of the less privileged in the state.
