Hafsat Abdulhamid Adebayo, a journalist, is in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where she has been admitted for months.

Hafsat urgently requires N5 million for a repeat brain tumor surgery to save her life. Her elder sister, Aishat Abdulhamid, has abandoned her business to care for Hafsat and informed newsmen that Hafsat has been battling illness for at least four years. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries that have cost millions of naira, Hafsat’s condition has relapsed, necessitating further surgeries.

Previously admitted to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Hafsat’s health has continued to decline. Aishat, who now wheels her sister around, recounted how Hafsat underwent surgery last year with the Bauchi State Government’s intervention. Though she initially recovered, her condition worsened again. Currently, Hafsat is at JUTH, where doctors have indicated the need for another emergency surgery. Hafsat has been unable to eat, talk, or walk for over a week, and her consultant insists on immediate surgery.

“We have exhausted all our savings,” Aishat said. “Friends, family, and colleagues have supported us, but we need more help.
