Five female visually impaired students at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) received scholarships from the Nigeria Association of the Blind (NAB) and the B.O. Foundation for Inclusive Media (BOFIM).

The presentation ceremony on July 24, 2024, at UNILAG’s Senate Chamber featured speeches from NAB Chairman Barrister Lukman Bolarinwa and BOFIM Executive Director Blessing Oladunjoye, who emphasized the importance of financial and technological support for visually impaired students. The awards cover their 200-level fees and include new laptops.

UNILAG’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bola Oboh, and other university officials praised the donors and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to inclusivity. The event also saw participation from Anna Oliver, Michael Fadeyi, and Dr. Ifeolu Akintunde, who reiterated their support for students with special needs.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of laptops to the five UNILAG students and two visually impaired students from the University of Ilorin and the University of Benin. Mojisola Adeleye, speaking for the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the support, noting that it would significantly aid their studies.
