Osun State University, UNIOSUN, has appointed 27 new teaching assistants as part of its strategic efforts to nurture future scholars and researchers.

This initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and equipping postgraduate students with the skills necessary for success in both academic and professional domains. The selection process, which occurred between May and June 2024, was open to postgraduate students enrolled in PhD and academic master’s programs for the 2023/2024 session.

Out of 32 applicants, 16 candidates were selected for Grade I positions, and 11 were chosen for Grade II after a rigorous screening process. The candidates were evaluated based on their expertise in their respective fields, general knowledge, communication skills, character, and commitment to academic excellence. The Provost of the Postgraduate College, Professor Siyan Oyeweso, expressed satisfaction with the process, emphasizing the quality of the selected candidates.

The newly appointed teaching assistants will contribute to the development of teaching materials and assist in course delivery while continuing their academic research. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the successful candidates, urging them to embrace continuous learning and adaptability, and highlighting their vital role in addressing societal challenges through their academic and professional pursuits.
