The Office of the Technical Adviser on ICT and Digital Economy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, hosted a 7-day boot camp from August 20 to August 27, 2024, to drive digital transformation in education.

The event, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp and Dutse Model International School, trained over 4,000 secondary school teachers and targeted Education Management Information System (EMIS) officers from 288 secondary schools in Jigawa, as well as staff from zonal education offices.

Governor Umar Namadi, who inaugurated the boot camp, highlighted significant achievements under the JIGAWA COMPETE Initiative, including the successful implementation of an EMIS software designed to enhance data collection and management in education. The initiative has seen over 4,000 teachers enroll and download the Jigawa EMIS Application, with internet support provided by UNICEF for free online access.

The Governor also announced the deployment of fifty National Identity Management Enrolment devices to register all Senior Secondary School students into the National Identity Management Database, issuing them National Identification Numbers (NIN). This effort aims to track out-of-school children, monitor student progress, and address educational disparities across the state.
