The National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Population Commission (NPC), and UNICEF have announced a new birth registration initiative for children aged zero to five years in Kebbi State.

Kebbi’s NOA Director, Joseph Yaro Machika, revealed that the program will offer free, digital registrations, replacing traditional written methods that can be damaged. This digital approach ensures secure and comprehensive recording of each child’s details, facilitating their identification as Nigerian citizens globally.

Machika emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that it is a collaborative effort involving NOA, NPC, UNICEF, and the Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Management Agency. The aim is to ensure that every child, regardless of their location, is registered, as this data is vital for national budgeting and economic planning.

The state orientation chief urged parents, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to support the program and cooperate with registration officials. The goal is to achieve complete coverage of Kebbi State’s children in this critical initiative, which will enhance national planning and development.
