The Nigerian government issued a wanted notice for British socialist Andrew Wynne, accusing him of leading a plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration under the guise of the August #EndBadGovernance protests.

Wynne, who is also known by aliases such as Andrew Povich and Drew Povey, is alleged to have used his businesses, Iva Valley Bookshop in Abuja and Stars of Nations Schools in Nasarawa State, as fronts for his activities.

The Nigerian Police Force, through spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, claimed that Wynne, 70, was involved in financing and directing an unconstitutional regime change. The police allege that Wynne deployed substantial funds to incite violence, aiming to create chaos that would attract international condemnation of the Nigerian government.

In support of their case, the police have presented documents related to the Stars of Nations Schools to the Federal High Court in Abuja. These documents were collected by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in their investigation, which included inquiries to various agencies such as the Corporate Affairs Commission and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The evidence is part of the prosecution’s case against 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters charged with conspiring with Wynne to undermine the government.
