Edo State Government has extended the school resumption date to ensure the safety of students, postponing it from the initially scheduled September 9.

This decision follows a previous announcement on September 7, which cited a recent increase in fuel prices as a contributing factor.

Chris Nehikhare, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, explained that the extension was necessary to protect children from potential risks associated with the fuel price hike. He also mentioned that intelligence reports indicated a threat from imported thugs, further influencing the decision.

The government has decided to keep schools closed until these safety concerns are addressed, emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding students’ well-being amidst the current challenges.
