Mr. Akintunde Sawyer, managing director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), along with executive director Mustapha Iyal and NANS president Lucky Emonefe, visited Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Anambra State to promote NELFUND’s loan program.
The campaign aims to raise awareness among students in South Eastern Nigeria to encourage enrollment and access to education financing.
During the visit, Mr. Sawyer emphasized the critical role of education in societal development, highlighting the need to address the financial barriers that lead to student dropouts. He reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to making education accessible through NELFUND’s loan offerings, which feature flexible repayment options. He expressed his gratitude to the university’s acting vice chancellor, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, for her support.
Professor Omenugha welcomed the initiative, thanking NELFUND and NANS for their efforts to assist students across Nigeria. She assured that COOU students would be motivated to apply for the program, recognizing the opportunity it presents for those facing financial challenges in their education.
