The Anwar-Ul Islam College Agege Old Students’ Association (ACAOSA) has awarded N5,419,400 in scholarships to outstanding students during the school’s 23rd Valedictory Service held last week.

This generous funding was contributed by both the U.S. and Nigerian chapters of ACAOSA, with the U.S. Chapter granting N3,802,400 to 11 students excelling in the qualifying examination for JSS1. Additionally, the 1968/74 set awarded N1,386,600 to six outstanding students, while the 1969/73 set provided N231,000 to support Adedokun Adefolarin’s tuition for the 2023/24 academic session. Babalola Mubarak, the best graduating student, received a special award of N100,000 from ACAOSA’s Global President General, Alhaji Abdulfattah Afolabi.

In his address, Afolabi encouraged the students to emulate their accomplished alumni, who have excelled in various fields worldwide, and to contribute positively to Nigeria’s growth. He emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and honesty as key traits that will aid their educational and future endeavors.

The valedictory event featured a lecture delivered by Prof. Elias Wahab, who underscored the significance of combining knowledge with creativity to address societal challenges. He urged students to pursue their passions and acquire vocational skills while awaiting university admission. The school principal, Abdulwaheed Soyebo, reminded graduands that life’s journey includes both triumphs and trials, and outgoing Head Boy Sanni Ibrahim expressed gratitude for the support received from ACAOSA, teachers, and parents.
