The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) inducted 93 newly qualified doctors from Babcock University during a ceremony held at the university’s Medical School Auditorium in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.

At the 9th induction ceremony, Babcock University President and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo, urged the new doctors to prioritize their calling to serve over financial gain. He reminded them, “In a world full of misery and pain, you are blessed to be called to a special kind of service,” and encouraged them to seek divine guidance amid challenges, emphasizing their role as “missionaries, not mercenaries.”

Prof. Olusegun Akinyinka, a representative of the MDCN Registrar, stressed the importance of adhering to professional ethics and operating within their competencies, no matter where they practice. Medical Elder Dr. Ebere Okereke further emphasized leadership as a service, urging the inductees to give back to the communities that nurtured them, stating, “The nation needs you.”

Dr. Lukman Ogunjimi, Ogun State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), encouraged the new doctors to pursue further education and embrace technology, transforming the notion of ‘brain drain’ into ‘brain gain’ by acquiring skills abroad and returning to Nigeria. Class representative Dr. Abikoye Mogbekeloluwa expressed gratitude to the faculty for their support during challenging times, saying, “Hope was our driving force throughout the challenges,” as the graduates prepared to embark on impactful careers in healthcare.
