Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Anambra State, Nigeria, achieved a significant milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kentucky State University, USA, on Monday, September 23, 2024.

The agreement, signed by COOU’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, and Kentucky State University President, Dr. Koffi Akakpo, aims to promote exchange programs and collaborative research in key areas such as agriculture, nursing sciences, education, and economics.

As part of this partnership, a COOU staff member is set to pursue a master’s degree in soil science starting in spring 2025. This marks a critical step towards enhancing COOU’s international visibility and collaboration. The university has already established partnerships with institutions in Europe and Asia, including the University of Economics and Innovation in Poland and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in China.

Under Prof. Omenugha’s leadership, the institution is steadily building its reputation as a leading university in Nigeria and Africa, positioning itself on the global stage with these forward-looking initiatives.
