Mrs. Anike Adekanye, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District 2, Maryland, has been honored with the Governor’s Commendation for Institutional Excellence, recognizing her leadership in making her district the Most Outstanding Education District in Lagos State.

The award was presented during the Governor’s Commendation & Awards Night at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, on September 30, 2024, in acknowledgment of her commitment to child development and the implementation of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness programs.

In her acceptance speech, Adekanye expressed deep gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for their exemplary leadership in advancing education in Lagos. She also thanked Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and his wife, as well as the Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, for their support, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the entire district team in enhancing student welfare and safeguarding against societal challenges.

Adekanye’s tenure has been marked by significant achievements, including producing multiple ONE-DAY GOVERNORS and national award winners. Under her leadership, Education District 2 has become a model for educational innovation, integrating technology into learning and emphasizing the importance of student protection and welfare. Her vision continues to inspire and elevate educational standards across Lagos State.
