A coalition of NGOs, the Center for Advocacy, Transparency & Accountability Initiative (CATAI) and Unique Care and Support Foundation (CASFOD), has donated ₦10,000,020 to the Borno State Government to purchase school uniforms for children affected by recent floods in Jere and Maiduguri.

The donation was presented to the State Commissioner for Education, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, by CATAI’s Executive Director, Abubakar Sadiq Muazu, and CASFOD’s Executive Director, Benjamin John.

In addition to the monetary donation, the NGOs committed to providing 700 school bags and books to further support student retention in the flood-affected areas.

Muazu emphasized the importance of this intervention in easing the financial burden on parents and enhancing school enrollment, while John urged the government to implement safeguards to protect schools from future disasters.

Wakilbe expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, noting that the recent floods had severely impacted the educational infrastructure, leaving many children without uniforms or materials. He assured that the donations would be used efficiently to restore education for over 400,000 children in the affected communities.
