The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has mandated the introduction of Citizenship Studies a compulsory subject across all levels of education in Nigeria, from primary to tertiary institutions.
The Federal Ministry of Education, the Nigerian Education Research Development Council (NERDC), and relevant stakeholders are collaborating with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to develop a comprehensive curriculum aimed at enhancing civic education.
According to NOA Director-General Lanre Issa-Onilu, this initiative seeks to provide students with a deeper understanding of their civic responsibilities, national identity, and governance. The curriculum will emphasize critical thinking, leadership, social justice, and tolerance, fostering a sense of unity and national pride among Nigerian youths.
