The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ilorin inducted 30 graduates from the 2022-2023 academic session during its sixth induction and oath-taking ceremony.

The event, themed “Thriving in Turbulent Times: Strategies for Veterinary Enterprises to Navigate Economic Challenges and Ensure Sustainable Growth,” was attended by key figures in the veterinary field, including Dr. Oladotun Fadipe, who represented the President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria. Fadipe urged the new veterinarians to uphold the dignity of the profession and practice with integrity.

Keynote speaker Dr. Puspa Ramloo, Managing Director of House of Pluto Lagos, emphasized the importance of continuous learning and gaining practical experience before entering full practice. He encouraged the graduates to remain passionate about animal welfare and to strive to make a positive impact on society by using their skills to tackle public health issues and advance veterinary care in Nigeria.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Wahab Egbewole and Dean of the Faculty Professor Mistura O. Azeez both highlighted the significance of leveraging technology, staying updated on advancements, and committing to lifelong learning in veterinary medicine. They reminded the graduates that their role goes beyond animal care, with a crucial part to play in public health, food safety, and preventing zoonotic diseases to ensure the well-being of communities.
