The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has pledged N1bn for the restoration of Obafemi Awolowo University’s landscape. This announcement was made during her visit to the campus on Thursday.

While unveiling the 2.7-kilometre road named in her honor, Tinubu reminisced about the once-beautiful greenery of the university and expressed concern over its current state. She emphasized the need for urgent restoration efforts to revive the campus’s aesthetic appeal, blaming poor maintenance culture for the deterioration.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who named the road and other projects on campus after Mrs. Tinubu, praised her leadership and contributions to education and empowerment. He highlighted the significance of the road, pavilion, and monument in showcasing her lasting impact.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, through his deputy, affirmed the state government’s commitment to improving infrastructure across the state, including educational institutions like OAU.
