Parents of students in Delta State’s technical schools have voiced concerns over a steep 200% increase in boarding fees.

The hike, from ₦85,000 to ₦250,000 per term, has led to widespread appeals to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a review, citing financial strain and comparisons to lower fees in other schools.

Teachers and stakeholders have noted the challenges families face, with many withdrawing students due to the financial burden, which contradicts the state’s promise of free education under the Universal Basic Education Act.

Parents are also frustrated with additional fees, overcrowded classrooms, and policies that further hinder access to quality education.
