The family of the late Mr. Onyeka Kikeme, a Chemistry Education graduate from the University of Delta, Agbor, Delta State, has urged the state government to ensure justice is served following his tragic murder.

The family is also appealing to the Chairman of Ika North East Local Council, Mr. Hunkamma Odigwe, to hold the perpetrators accountable, providing some relief to the grieving family.

Kikeme’s lifeless body was discovered in the Owa-Oyibu bush last Wednesday, shortly after he had left his mother’s house, where he had spent quality time.

His brother, Joseph Onyinye Blessing, recounted that Kikeme departed his mother’s home around 7:00 p.m., despite her pleas for him to stay longer. “We are seeking justice, not only for our family but for others who have suffered similar tragedies at the hands of these unscrupulous individuals,” Blessing stated, highlighting the pervasive fear that now grips the community.

Blessing described his brother as a promising young man who was awaiting a visa to travel abroad, hoping for a better future.

After graduating two years ago, Kikeme had become a motorcyclist to support himself, operating a small transportation business while waiting for his visa approval. “The sudden death of Mr. Onyeka Kikeme has left my family and the entire community devastated. Onyeka wasn’t just a brother; he was a beacon of hope, kindness, and resilience,” he lamented.

The family’s call for justice underscores a broader plea for safety and security in their community, as they seek accountability for this heinous crime.
