The Nigerian School on Internet Governance (NSIG) has successfully graduated its 5th cohort, equipping new leaders to shape the future of the digital world.

Kunle Olorundare, President of the Internet Society Nigeria Chapter, highlighted the impact of NSIG during the graduation event held at the University of Port Harcourt’s Center for Information and Telecommunication Engineering. He emphasized the program’s role in enhancing Nigeria’s participation in global internet governance discussions and motivating attendees to engage actively in policy development.

Olorundare noted that NSIG is part of a global movement that addresses the growing need for education in internet governance, tracing its origins to initiatives like the European Summer School on Internet Governance (EuroSSIG) in 2007. He stressed the importance of informed policies to address emerging challenges such as online safety, privacy, artificial intelligence, and the metaverse.

The NSIG program equips participants with essential skills to navigate these complexities, fostering their ability to shape an inclusive and equitable digital future.
