Oando Foundation has reiterated its dedication to empowering girls in Nigeria through education. The Foundation revealed that it has enrolled 31,867 girls back into formal education, in collaboration with state agencies and School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), providing them with the necessary support to sustain their academic journey.

Under its Adopt-a-School Initiative, Oando Foundation has made significant strides in returning girls to the classroom, particularly in Northern Nigeria. This includes offering scholarships to exceptional girls in its adopted schools, constructing WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) facilities to promote a healthy learning environment, providing mentorship programs, training female teachers, and engaging community leaders to foster trust and support.

In celebration of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child, Oando Foundation joined forces with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), and other development partners at the two-day International Conference on Girl Child Education. The conference focused on addressing crucial issues regarding education access and quality for girls in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Tonia Uduimoh, the Programmes Manager of Oando Foundation, outlined the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to advance girl child education. He emphasized the importance of increasing education funding, implementing accountability measures to monitor progress, and sharing best practices among stakeholders to amplify the impact.
