The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) inducted 51 newly qualified doctors from Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, into the medical profession on Tuesday.

Dr. Fatima Kyari, Registrar of the Council, administered the Hippocratic Oath to the new doctors, urging them to uphold professional ethics and cautioning that negligence would not be tolerated. She also encouraged the inductees to promptly pay their practicing dues, respect senior colleagues, and secure medical insurance.

Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University, praised the graduates during the 19th oath-taking and induction ceremony, noting that the “David Class” is part of over 3,000 doctors produced by the College of Health Sciences. He reminded them of their duty to preserve life and alleviate suffering, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to innovation and excellence in education.

The event also featured an induction lecture by Prof. King-David Terna Yawe, who urged the new doctors to continuously learn and embrace entrepreneurship in their careers. He highlighted the importance of lifelong learning and staying updated through scientific meetings and professional development.
