The Kwara State Government has set the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fee for public secondary school students at N30,250 for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The fee covers N27,000 for WAEC charges, N1,250 for e-registration, and N2,000 for administrative costs, according to the Director of Curriculum and Assessment, Mrs. Adewuyi Victoria.

Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, emphasized that principals must adhere strictly to these approved charges, warning against any unauthorized fees or practices that could harm their reputation.

Addressing school principals at the registration launch held at Saint Anthony’s Secondary School, Ilorin, Modibbo-Kawu urged them to uphold their commitment to quality education and support the current administration led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. She appreciated the principals’ ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Education, recognizing their essential role in shaping the future of Kwara State’s education system and preparing the next generation of leaders.

Other stakeholders, including Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, and Mrs. Olanrewaju Bake, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, commended the governor’s commitment to advancing the education sector. They highlighted improvements in teachers’ welfare, school infrastructure, and prompt payment of salaries as key achievements of the AbdulRazaq administration, which has brought notable progress to the state’s educational landscape.
