The Federal Government has suspended 13 students from Federal Unity College (FUC) in Enugu State for six weeks following allegations of bullying captured in a viral video.
The announcement was made by Folashade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, in Abuja. Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa ordered the suspension after the video surfaced, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to ensuring safe learning environments across federal schools.
The incident, which occurred on November 7, involved a group assault on an SS1 day student, leading the Ministry of Education to form a disciplinary committee to investigate. The committee’s findings prompted the suspension, with further investigations ongoing in collaboration with the School Based Management Committee (SBMC) and security agencies to address any external affiliations.
Additionally, the ministry has heightened security at the school by working with law enforcement and reviewing safety measures to prevent future incidents.
