Professor John Laah of Kaduna State University has voiced support for the establishment of a Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna, emphasizing its potential benefits for all Nigerians.

Speaking on behalf of the Forum of Southern Kaduna Professors, Laah commended Senator Sunday Marshall for pushing the bill to create the institution, expressing optimism that President Bola Tinubu will soon sign it into law.

Laah explained that Kachia was chosen due to its established infrastructure, security, and diverse population, which make it an ideal, cost-effective site. He addressed the decision to shift the university’s location from Manchok to Kachia, noting it was intended to minimize costs while taking advantage of existing resources, including nearby Nok University’s infrastructure and a military presence.

He stated that the university is not exclusively for Southern Kaduna but it’s a federal institution with open admissions for all Nigerians. He also highlighted the potential for regional development, including research in ginger production, job creation, and local growth.

With broad support from local stakeholders, including academics and community leaders, Laah expressed optimism about the university’s future, saying it’s a beacon of hope for the region and for Nigeria.
