Singapore’s Second Minister for Education, and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamad Maliki Osman, is set to embark on a working visit to Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria from November 18 to 23, 2024. The visit underscores Singapore’s strong bilateral ties with both nations. In 2023, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire ranked as Singapore’s fourth and 13th largest trade partners in Sub-Saharan Africa, respectively.

Côte d’Ivoire stands out as one of the region’s fastest-growing economies and a leading agricultural producer, while Nigeria boasts Africa’s largest population.

During his stay, Minister Maliki will engage with high-ranking government officials and leaders in both countries to strengthen political and economic cooperation.

He will also connect with business communities to explore mutual trade and investment opportunities. As part of his visit to Nigeria, Minister Maliki will host a reception for Overseas Singaporeans residing in the country, fostering closer ties with Singapore’s global diaspora.

Accompanying him on the Nigeria leg of the visit is Non-Resident High Commissioner to Nigeria Mr. Lim Sim Seng, along with a delegation from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This visit highlights Singapore’s ongoing commitment to deepening partnerships in Africa, leveraging economic collaboration and people-to-people ties to enhance relations with Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria. The visit is facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore, in collaboration with the APO Group.
